Throughout my life, I have had a number of teachers that I have admired, looked up to and simply liked very much, and during my time in school I often found myself wishing that I could be friends and hang out with them. So, this spring, when my French teacher told me they were showing a French film at the cinema in my town, I asked if she wanted to see it with me.

After trying to be like everyone else but still being bullied through all my earlier school years, I stopped trying to be like everyone else and stopped caring about what others said about me. It was okay to be me and no one could take that away from me.

July was warm this year. Between sweating, we came up with the idea of finding stories to our Can I video via this blog.

I am super excited and grateful for how many of you have contributed to it. The video is being made during the coming days - so if you have a photo you haven’t already submitted, please send it in asap. You can either use the form (look under “Read more”) for upload, or e-mail it at sakert@gmail.com

Your stories made us laugh and cry. You are incredibly - or sort of - brave, depending on the sign you’re holding. From now on, I’ll never see a woman in a grocery store or a boy on a bus without wondering what battle they are fighting, and admiring them for some day winning it.
